OLYMP CDL is the first laboratory in Kazakhstan to receive JCI accreditation
The OLYMP CDL laboratory in Astana has received international accreditation from Joint Commission International (JCI, USA) in the referral of laboratory diagnostics, the gold standard for quality and safety in healthcare.
JCI accreditation confirms the laboratory's compliance with international requirements and its high level of competence in conducting medical research.
How the accreditation process worked:
JCI accreditation for medical laboratories is based on 183 standards aimed at:
- improving the accuracy of laboratory tests;
- ensuring the safety of patients and staff;
- reducing risks at all stages of the laboratory process;
- continuous test and improvement of work.
Preparation for accreditation took more than a year and included:
- retrofitting the laboratory;
- optimizing and standardizing processes;
- developing and implementing internal regulations;
- training and control of staff performance.
International assessment
The on-site assessment of the laboratory took place in November 2025 and was conducted by JCI international expert Dr. Namita Jaggi.
Over the course of five days, the expert assessed the practical implementation of all JCI standards, from patient admission and biomaterial sampling, transportation, and storage to examination and reporting of results.
The following were also thoroughly checked:
- engineering and technical systems;
- building and infrastructure safety;
- working conditions for employees;
- compliance with biological and epidemiological safety.
On December 25, 2025, the OLYMP CDL laboratory in Astana received a positive JCI conclusion and accredited laboratory status.
This result is the culmination of the long-term, systematic, and coordinated work of our entire team.
Why is this important ?
JCI accreditation confirms that the laboratory:
- operates at the level of the world's best laboratories;
- ensures high accuracy of research;
- guarantees the safety of patients and staff;
- deserves trust in every test result.
To date, there are only 48 JCI-accredited medical laboratories in the world, and in Kazakhstan, the OLYMP CDL laboratory is the first and only laboratory to have this status.
All the experience gained during the preparation and accreditation of the laboratory in Astana is being implemented in all laboratories of the OLYMP CDL network throughout Kazakhstan.
We are proud of this achievement as confirmation of the international level of quality and safety of our work by independent world-class experts.
