Quantitative PCR: the most reliable test for diagnosing cytomegalovirus infection.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common viruses, and most people become infected with this microbe at birth. According to official data, more than 40% of the world's population is infected. CMV affects the developing fetus and is the most common viral cause of birth defects. However, not every infected person has any symptoms. Previously, it was very difficult for practitioners to make a diagnosis of cytomegalovirus infection, since the available laboratory tests (antibodies to CMV) were not very informative. Now, with the advent of the quantitative PCR method for diagnosing CMV, the task of making a diagnosis is greatly simplified!

From September 2, a unique opportunity is available for all patients of the OLYMP CDL to find out who cytomegalovirus is for each of us is a harmless microbe or a dangerous virus
