New! Immunohistochemical Assessment of Estrogen (ER) and Progesterone (PR) Receptors

CDL OLIMP is expanding its range of immunohistochemical tests and introduces the assessment of estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PR) receptors by immunohistochemistry (IHC).

This study is an important step in the diagnosis of hormone-dependent tumors, primarily breast cancer. Determining the ER and PR status allows clinicians to assess the tumor's sensitivity to hormone therapy and contributes to selecting the most effective treatment strategy.

When is this test recommended ?

  • In newly diagnosed breast cancer;
  • To determine the hormonal status of the tumor;
  • When planning hormone therapy;
  • To assess prognostic factors of the disease;
  • In the evaluation of recurrent and metastatic tumors.

Diagnostic significance of ER and PR

Estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PR) receptors are proteins located within tumor cells. When these receptors are present, the tumor may respond to hormone therapy, making their assessment an essential component of the morphological evaluation of patients with breast cancer.

Assessment of ER and PR expression helps physicians to:

  • select the most appropriate treatment regimen;
  • determine the disease prognosis;
  • evaluate the likelihood of response to endocrine therapy.

Biomaterial

The study is performed on histological material prepared in the form of paraffin blocks.

Advantages of the test

  • An important prognostic and predictive marker in breast cancer;
  • Supports the selection of personalized therapy;
  • Complies with international recommendations for breast cancer diagnostics;
  • Provides highly informative data for determining further treatment strategy.
