Antibodies to titin-(MGT-30)
Titine is one of the largest proteins in muscle tissue, ensuring elasticity and proper contraction of muscle fibres. When the immune system malfunctions, antibodies against titine may be produced, which is associated with autoimmune diseases, primarily myasthenia gravis.
The presence of antibodies to titin (especially to the MGT-30 fragment) is more often detected in patients with generalised forms of myasthenia gravis, as well as in those whose disease is accompanied by a tumour of the thymus gland (thymoma). Their detection allows for a more accurate diagnosis and prognosis of the disease.
