Immunohistochemical study of p53 (TP53)
The immunohistochemical study of p53 (TP53) is a method for morphological assessment of the expression of the tumor suppressor protein p53, which plays a central role in cell cycle control, DNA repair, and induction of apoptosis.
Abnormal p53 expression (overexpression, "null" type, or cytoplasmic accumulation) is often associated with TP53 gene mutations and is used as an important diagnostic and prognostic marker in various neoplasms.
