The house dust mite Euroglyphus maynei is common in humid geographical areas around the world. 
House dust mites from the family Pyroglyphidae – Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, D. farinae and Euroglyphus maynei – are recognized as the main source of allergens in house dust and the indoor environment, producing many strong allergens. They are ordinary inhabitants of houses all over the world.

Sensitization to E. maynei has been registered in many countries around the world. 
E. maynei is increasingly recognized as an important source of allergen exposure in patients with allergies to house dust mites. E. maynei can usually cause symptoms of asthma and rhinoconjunctivitis and exacerbate atopic dermatitis in sensitized people.
