Cow's milk + allergenic components
Reflex testing for milk allergens (exclusively at OLYMP CDL)
If you or your child experience rash, runny nose, cough, stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhea after consuming dairy products - it could be a sign of food allergy. One of the most common allergens is cow’s milk protein.
What does the test show?
This analysis reveals whether your immune system reacts to milk proteins. It's especially important to assess sensitivity to the main components:
- Alpha-lactalbumin - a whey protein that can cause skin and respiratory symptoms.
- Beta-lactoglobulin - one of the most allergenic proteins, absent in breast milk but abundant in cow’s milk.
- Casein - a heat-resistant protein that may cause severe and prolonged reactions, particularly in children.
How is the test performed?
- A single blood draw from a vein.
- First, the level of IgE to whole milk is measured.
- If a reaction is detected - further testing for individual components (alpha-lactalbumin, beta-lactoglobulin, casein) is done.
- If there is no reaction to whole milk - extended testing is not performed.
No need for repeated blood draws - all done from one sample.
Why choose ImmunoCAP?
The test is performed on ImmunoCAP equipment - the "gold standard" in allergy diagnostics.
Benefits:
- High accuracy - detects even low antibody levels.
- Safe - no exposure to allergen, suitable for children, pregnant women, elderly.
- Convenient - no need to stop antihistamines.
