Bluegrass meadow, g8

Kentucky bluegrass is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows in cold and humid temperate regions around the world. It has dark green leaves with boat-shaped tips. It belongs to the Poaceae family and the Pooidaea subfamily.

This grass is pollinated by the wind and massively releases allergenic pollen grains during the peak flowering season. It is also known to be the most predominant seasonal aeroallergen, causing allergic symptoms such as allergic rhinoconjunctivitis (ARC) and asthma.

The following allergenic components of Poap p 1, Poap p 2, Poap p 5 were detected, including Poap p 5(a), Poap p 5(b) and Poap p 10. Meadow grass contains major allergens such as group 1 and group 5, which exhibit greater cross-reactivity. Group 5 is the main allergen to which more than 90% of patients are sensitized.
Kentucky bluegrass cross-reactivity is observed with all grasses, including wheat, other pollen, and some plant products.

Determination of specific IgE in human blood to - bluegrass, g8, shows the body's reaction to this allergen.
