Determination of benzodiazepines and their derivatives in urine (chromatography)
Benzodiazepines are psychoactive drugs widely used to treat anxiety, insomnia, and a number of other conditions. Due to their sedative effect, abuse is possible, making urine testing for these substances particularly important for detecting such cases.
The test is performed using high-performance liquid chromatography with a mass spectrometric detector (HPLC-MS). This method is highly sensitive and allows for the reliable detection of both the parent substances and their biochemical metabolites.
The analysis is aimed at detecting a number of benzodiazepines and their metabolites, including:
- Diazepam
- Alprazolam
- Clonazepam
- Lorazepam
- Oxazepam
- Nitrazepam
