Asthma/Rhinitis + IgE Total Package for children
The "Asthma/Rhinitis, Adults + IgE (Total)" package is a comprehensive analysis designed to detect sensitization to common indoor allergens (such as D. pteronyssinus dust mites), epidermal allergens (cat and dog dander), and pollen allergens (silver birch, timothy grass, mugwort, ragweed), and food allergens (egg white, milk), which may contribute to the development and/or exacerbation of allergic rhinitis (including rhinoconjunctivitis) and bronchial asthma. The goal of this package is to facilitate rational elimination and treatment strategies for these conditions.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, approximately 40% of the global population suffers from some form of allergy. Among these, allergic rhinitis accounts for 12–45% of cases.
Allergic rhinitis is a condition characterized by a range of symptoms including nasal congestion, sneezing, itching, rhinorrhea, and swelling of the nasal mucosa. It is a widespread condition with significant impact on quality of life.
Bronchial asthma is a chronic respiratory disease marked by bronchial hyperresponsiveness and airway narrowing, leading to episodes of shortness of breath (dyspnea). It affects both males and females with equal frequency. The disease often begins in early childhood and may persist or recur in adulthood. In about 50% of cases, asthma resolves by the age of 15, while in others it can continue throughout life.
According to the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), it is recommended to test children with asthma and rhinitis for allergies to house dust mites, cats and dogs, grasses, trees, and food allergens as part of standard diagnostic procedures across European countries.
The aim of this panel is to determine specific IgE antibodies to major household, epidermal, and pollen allergens using the ImmunoCAP method. Allergy diagnostics with ImmunoCAP technology is known for its high sensitivity and specificity, capable of detecting low concentrations of specific IgE in very small volumes of blood. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Allergy Organization recognize ImmunoCAP as the "gold standard" in allergy diagnostics due to its proven accuracy and reproducibility in independent studies.
The "Asthma/Rhinitis, Children" package also includes the measurement of total Immunoglobulin E (IgE) using the ImmunoCAP method, which allows for a detailed assessment of overall allergen sensitivity and enables comparison of specific IgE to total IgE levels. This provides a more complete picture of the causal allergen profile
