Honey bee, i1

Honey bees have been domesticated and spread throughout the world. The natural range of the honey bee is thought to be Africa, Europe and the Middle East for A. mellifera and Japan, India and Indochina for A. cerona.

Analyses show that a large percentage of the general population (15-25%) may be sensitized to webworm venoms. In rural populations, the frequency may be even higher, indicating that the prevalence of specific IgE antibodies is related to the degree of contact with webworms. Systemic reactions occur in 0.15-5% of the general population and can sometimes be fatal.
Major allergens include phospholipase A (PLA2), hyaluronidase, and phosphatase. Honey bee and bumblebee venoms have been reported to be highly cross-reactive.

Determination of specific IgE in human blood to - Honey bee, i1, shows the body's reaction to this allergen.

Test method is ImmunoCAP (Immunofluorescence on solid phase).

Units of measurement is kU/l

The sampling biomaterial is venous blood
