Penicilloyl G, c1

Parenteral Drug Therapy is the main route of exposure to penicillin G. Penicillin G (benzylpenicillin) is a natural antibiotic produced by industrial fermentation of Penicillium chrysogenum. Clinically, allergic reactions to penicillin can be classified as immediate ones occurring within one hour of the last administration of penicillin, or delayed reactions occurring at any time between 1 and 48 hours. Immediate reactions are usually mediated by IgE, whereas delayed reactions are often induced by sensitized T-cells. The longer the time to symptom onset, the more likely it is that a non-IgE-mediated mechanism is involved. Immediate reactions are clinically manifested by urticaria, angioedema, rhinitis, bronchospasm and anaphylaxis. The main delayed reactions are patchy-papular exanthema and delayed urticaria/angioedema. Determination of specific IgE in human blood to - Penicillin G, c1, represents the body’s response to this allergen.
