Timothy grass + allergenic components

Reflex testing for timothy grass allergen (exclusively at OLYMP CDL)

If you or your child experience sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, itchy throat, nasal congestion, coughing, or skin rashes after walking outside - it could be an allergy to grass pollen, especially from meadow grass like Timothy grass.

How to check for allergy?

A laboratory blood test can confirm or rule it out.

What does the test show?

The analysis detects sensitization to Timothy grass pollen as a whole and its specific components:

  • rPhl p 1 (g205): the main marker of true allergy to grass pollen. Often responsible for severe symptoms like rhinitis, conjunctivitis, or asthma exacerbation.
  • rPhl p 4 (g208): associated with cross-reactivity between different grasses.
  • rPhl p 5b (g215): a specific marker for Timothy grass allergy, often linked with more severe symptoms.
  • rPhl p 7 and rPhl p 12 (g214): markers of cross-reactivity; may cause reactions to other grasses, and in rare cases, to fruits and vegetables.

How is the test performed?

  • A single blood sample is taken from a vein.
  • Total IgE to Timothy grass pollen is measured first.
  • If sensitization is detected, a detailed molecular analysis follows.
  • If no sensitization is found, further testing is not needed.

Why choose ImmunoCAP?

This method is performed on the ImmunoCAP platform - the gold standard in allergy diagnostics:

  • High accuracy and sensitivity.
  • Safe for children, pregnant women, and elderly patients.
  • No need to stop antihistamines.
