Modern possibilities of allergodiagnostics in the OLYMP CDL branches

The main purpose of diagnosis for allergic diseases is to determine the allergen or allergens to which the patient is hypersensitive. Allergen-specific diagnostics serves this purpose, including obtaining anamnestic information that allows presumably, and sometimes quite accurately, to identify the "culpable" allergen.

The crucial stage of allergen-specific diagnosis is the conduct of diagnostic tests, which are the basis for allergen-specific treatment and prevention of exacerbation of the disease.

Previously, skin tests were mainly used for allergodiagnostics. However, they can only be done after the age of 5 years. But also in adults, taking into account the possibility of severe complications up to anaphylactic shock, as well as the complexity of evaluation of the results, these tests should be done only in special allergological institutions under the supervision of an allergologist-immunologist and intensive care physician!

Modern allergodiagnostics is based on immunological methods. Their advantage is complete safety for the patient. It is especially important to investigate the presence of common IgE antibodies in the blood responsible for the development of allergies and specific IgE antibodies. The results of the test should always be compared with the clinical picture of the disease. Only then can an adequate therapy be selected.

Today, the OLYMP laboratory branches has unique modern immunological analyzer IMMULITE 2000 XPI (Siemens, USA). The spectrum of analysis of this analyzer is more than 360 allergens and about 50 allergopanels. No analyzer of a similar class presented in Kazakhstan has such a wide range of tests. The exceptionally high performance of the results obtained using IMMULITE 2000 XPI is provided by chemiluminescent technology. Allergens are distributed into several groups: animals, medications, dust, food, occupational, parasites, insects, mites, fungus, trees, weeds, herbs, etc. Thus, without resorting to life- and health-threatening allergy tests, patients and doctors have the opportunity to reliably diagnose allergies to certain substances using a simple blood test.
