On June 25-26, OLYMP CDL took part in the II Congress of Hepatologists of Kazakhstan in Ust-Kamenogorsk
From June 25 to 26, the II Congress of Hepatologists of Kazakhstan "Cirrhosis of the liver and its complications" was held in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, which was attended by more than 200 specialists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, Germany, Israel and Bulgaria. The purpose of the Congress is to discuss topical issues of one of the most significant problems of modern medicine: the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver and related conditions.
According to Kulpash Kaliaskarova Sagyndykovna, Chief Freelance Gastroenterologist-Hepatologist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor of the Department of Gastroenterology of the Astana Medical University: "In total, 15-30% of humanity suffers from liver diseases and needs medical care. And it should be noted that determining the prognosis of these diseases is still a difficult task. Recent years have become significant in the history of the development of Kazakhstan's hepatology."
The presentation stand of the OLYMP CDL became one of the most visited, as it attracted the attention of doctors with its unique ELF test analysis. The ELF test is a complex algorithm for calculating three specific biochemical parameters of the blood, which makes it possible to determine the degree of liver fibrosis or cirrhosis and, in many cases, to avoid a biopsy. In addition, the ELF test makes it possible to monitor the effectiveness of cirrhosis treatment over time. It is noteworthy that, despite the maximum reliability, the cost of performing an ELF test is significantly lower than other serological markers of liver fibrosis.
Another feature of the OLYMP CDL booth was the announcement of an ultra-sensitive method for quantitative determination of the hepatitis C virus in Real-time PCR mode on the new COBAS TaqMan automatic analyzer. Today, one of the key requirements for diagnostics of viral hepatitis C is the use of equipment with a sensitivity level of 15 IU/mL, which in the near future will be available for clients of the OLYMP CDL branches (for comparison, the previous generation equipment has a sensitivity 20 times less is only 300 IU/mL).
Thus, OLYMP CDL expands the possibilities of diagnosing liver diseases and strives to make world-class laboratory diagnostics available to every resident of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
