On October 29, 2023, a gastro-school dedicated to celiac disease was held

Celiac disease is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the small intestine due to the use of gluten. Worldwide, 1 in 100 people suffer from celiac disease and only 30% of cases are diagnosed. Untimely diagnosis of celiac disease can lead to various complications. 

The risk group for celiac disease and who should be screened for celiac disease?

  • Children and adults with symptoms of celiac disease

  • Close relatives of patients with celiac disease

  • Type 1 diabetes 

  • Autoimmune diseases of the thyroid gland

  • Connective tissue diseases

  • Down Syndrome

  • Turner syndrome

  • Williams syndrome

  • Irritable bowel syndrome

Symptoms of celiac disease:

  • Constant fatigue

  • Diarrhea/constipation

  • Mouth ulcers

  • Abdominal distension

  • Heartburn

  • Vitamin deficiency

  • Vomiting

  • Skin rash

  • Weight Loss
