СDL "OLIMP" has launched a new laboratory service - ARVI Screen.

ARVI Screen is a laboratory test aimed at detecting the most common viruses that cause acute respiratory infections. The analysis allows for rapid identification of the viral nature of the illness and clarification of its specific pathogen.

The test detects the following infections:

RNA of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
RNA of metapneumovirus
RNA of parainfluenza virus
RNA of coronavirus (non-Covid-19)
RNA of rhinovirus
DNA of adenovirus
DNA of bocavirus

ARVI Screen helps to:

establish an accurate diagnosis;
choose the correct treatment strategy (e.g., determine whether antiviral therapy is needed or useless);
avoid unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions;
prevent complications;
assess the patient’s contagiousness and necessary preventive measures.

Indications for testing:

symptoms of ARVI: fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, weakness;
suspected viral nature of the illness when identifying the specific pathogen is important;
need to differentiate viral vs. bacterial respiratory infections;
high risk of complications (children, elderly people, pregnant women, patients with chronic conditions);
ARVI outbreaks in organized groups;
health monitoring in cases of immunodeficiency.

Preparation:

3-4 hours before collecting throat swabs, do not eat, drink, brush teeth, rinse the mouth/throat, chew gum, or smoke.
3-4 hours before collecting nasal swabs, do not use drops/sprays and do not rinse the nose. The optimal time for sample collection is in the morning, right after sleep.
