Measles. PCR + EIA package
Measles is an acute viral disorder with extremely high contagiosity, transmitted via respiratory droplets. An infected person becomes a source of infection for 2 - 4 days before the appearance of the characteristic skin rash and remains contagious for up to 4 days after the rash has fully disappeared. If complications arise, the infectious period may extend up to 10 days. The person is most contagious during the early stage of the disease, when catarrhal symptoms first appear.
While measles used to primarily affect children, in recent years teenagers and adults are increasingly contracting the disease
Measles indicants:
- A sudden spike in body temperature (up to 39–40°C)
- Headache, asthenia, general malaise
- Runny nose, sneezing, profuse mucous discharge
- Blear-eyedness, photophobia
- Appearance of the characteristic skin rash
To confirm the diagnosis, the following methods are used:
- PCR - detection of viral RNA
- ELISA - detection of IgM/IgG antibodies to the measles virus

- For PCR: nasal and throat swabs
- For ELISA: venous blood sample
