If you or your child experience sneezing, itchy eyes, watery eyes, nasal congestion, throat irritation, coughing, or even skin reactions at the end of summer - it might be an allergy to mugwort pollen.
What does the test reveal?
The analysis detects sensitization both to whole mugwort pollen and to its individual molecular components:
- nArt v 1 - a key marker of true mugwort allergy. It can cause pronounced symptoms of rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma.
- nArt v 3 (LTP) - a marker of cross-reactivity. Sensitization to this lipid transfer protein (LTP) can be associated with allergic reactions to various plant-based foods.
How does the testing work?
- A blood sample is taken from a vein.
- First, specific IgE to mugwort is measured.
- If sensitization is confirmed - molecular allergens nArt v 1 and nArt v 3 (LTP) are additionally tested.
- If no sensitization to whole mugwort is found – molecular testing is not performed.
