AVON and OLYMP CDL together against breast cancer!

On September 10, 2011, under the scope of the Avon charity program Together Against Breast Cancer, the first Kazakhstan March was held in Almaty City in support of the program to prevent the spread of breast cancer in women at an early stage of this disease, as well as to raise public awareness of methods of treatment and self-diagnosis. The march started from the intersection of Abai - Abylai Khan streets and passed through the central streets of Almaty, and finished on the Old Square, where it ended with a concert with the participation of popular Kazakh and Russian stars.

This March is held for the first time on the territory of Kazakhstan and is part of a single mass international movement that started in the United States in 1992 and has become popular in more than 50 countries of the world: the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, etc.

The purpose of the event is to draw the attention of the media, citizens, city authorities, and commercial organizations to the existing problem, to convey to the participants of the holiday in an accessible form the need for preventive measures, and to inform them about the first signs of the disease, as well as to organize consultations of specialists and examination of patients. The branches of OLYMP laboratories fully supported the idea of the charity program implemented by AVON and plans to support this project to examine women with breast cancer.

At the last press conference, Alexey Balas, Deputy General Director of the OLYMP CDL branches, focused on the social significance of the breast cancer prevention event and said: We are confident that this nationwide project will contribute to reducing the sad statistics of this serious disease in our country, as well as contribute to the wide awareness of the female population about the need for annual mammography and laboratory examinations.
